Juan Bonilla is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been providing therapeutic services for over 14 years. Having studied criminology, psychology, and philosophy as an undergraduate student and being deeply fascinated by the depth and power of the unconscious, Juan pursued his dream of becoming a psychotherapist.
Having graduated from the University of Southern California, Juan has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in diverse service settings that have included: juvenile drug court, foster care, hospice, after-school academic programs, county HIV/AIDS clinic, and Orange County’s Crisis Assessment Team. Juan has extensive experience in working with issues of: Crisis assessment/management, situational trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse/addiction, domestic violence, grief and loss, acculturation, and behavioral/delinquency.
Although Juan is versed in various treatment modalities such as solution-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and depth psychology, Juan believes that each person is a unique individual with his or her unique challenges and therefore approaches his clients’ struggles from an eclectic/integrative humanistic approach. Passionate about his work, Juan is always looking for educational as well as life experiences that will allow him to evolve as a therapist and continue assisting individuals in overcoming their struggles.
